Director of Sales

What you will be doing

The Director of Sales must be able to lead  the development and execution of strategic Sales and Marketing plans  and initiatives that maximize profitability for the hotel in order to  achieve budget, revenue and market share targets.

The ideal candidate for this position

We  are seeking an experienced Director of Sales! The ideal candidate will have  2-5 years of hotel sales experience. This person will be responsible  for selling to all markets. They must be able to prospect for new  clients, make cold calls, conduct site tours, and write and negotiate  contracts to the surrounding community.

Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be a lead generator to property to support the sales process and development of new business opportunities.
  • Assist hotel in meeting or exceeding assigned revenue goals
  • Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate accounts and travel industry accounts
  • Maintains  efficient reporting through use of current Weekly Sales Accountability  and Action Plan follow up. Additional reports may be introduced and  existing reports are subject to change.
  • Actively participate in budgeting, forecasting and managing expenses to achieve company expectations.
  • Performs Sales Audits to ensure information accuracy in property management systems, sales systems and general reporting.
  • Leads  daily stand up meetings, weekly sales meetings and participates in all  hotel related meetings as directed by General Manager.
  • Develop hotel-level tactical sales and marketing plans to support overall system-wide sales plans/strategies and programs
  • Develops  plans, special sales activities, and promotions, monitors Return on  Investment of all sales and marketing action plans and promotions.
  • Ensures that property has maximized use of all company, brand and local CVB programs.
  • Conducts market analysis to determine client needs, occupancy potential, rates desired, etc. for hotel.


  • The ideal candidate should have previous hotel sales experience.
  • Knowledge of Marriott products would also be a benefit.
  • Must  possess a thorough knowledge of the hospitality industry, have a strong  sales and marketing background, sound administrative skills, and well  developed management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints
  • A degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
